Your Design, Professionally Printed
Custom Design
Path One: Modify an Existing Design
This is the most popular route, and honestly the most practical one for most couples. You start with one of 500-plus designs created by independent artists (many of them exclusive to Paperlust), and then make it yours.
The on-site customization tool lets you update text, change colors, and adjust fonts directly in your browser. Most couples are surprised by how far this takes them. You can see exactly what your invitation will look like before you commit to anything.
If you want changes that go beyond the tool, that is where Paperlust's design team comes in. Add a note about what you need, such as a different layout arrangement, a specific color that is not in the palette, or a custom monogram, and a designer will make those tweaks for you. Two rounds of edits are included with every order, so you have room to refine without additional cost.
What you can customize:
- Wording and text (all panels, all cards)
- Colors across the design
- Fonts (from a curated selection)
- Card size
- Paper stock (various weight and texture options)
- Print method (digital, Foil Wedding Invitations, Letterpress Wedding Invitations )
- Envelope color and style
- Addition of an envelope liner
Path Two: Fully Custom from Scratch
If you have a concept that does not exist in any collection, Paperlust can design it from the ground up. This works best when you have a clear brief: a mood board, specific colors, a motif or illustration style, or a reference image.
The fully custom process works like this:
- Submit your brief with as much detail as you have. The more context, the better the outcome.
- Receive a quote for the custom design work.
- The design team creates a first concept for your review.
- Two rounds of edits refine the design until it is exactly right.
- You approve the final proof.
- Your invitations are printed in the Melbourne studio and shipped worldwide.
The advantage of going fully custom through Paperlust rather than hiring a freelance designer is that design, print, and delivery are all handled in one place. You are not managing a designer separately, then searching for a compatible printer, then hoping the colors translate correctly. Everything happens under one roof, with one team accountable for the result.
Why Paperlust Over a Freelance Designer
A freelance designer can create beautiful artwork. What they cannot always guarantee is that the artwork will print the way it looks on screen, that the paper stock will suit the design, that shipping will arrive on time, or that if something goes wrong you will get a reprint without a fight.
Paperlust's 100% happiness guarantee means that if you are not happy with your printed invitations, you get a free reprint or a refund. That guarantee applies whether you modified an existing design or went fully custom. It is a meaningful difference when you are ordering something as important as your wedding stationery.
Every order is Australian made, printed in our Melbourne studio by the same team that handles the design process. Quality consistency is not an accident. It is the result of keeping design and print under one roof.
How to Decide Which Path Is Right for You
If you can find a design in the collection that is even sixty to seventy percent right, start there. The customization tool and designer tweaks can cover the rest. This path is faster, more predictable in cost, and often delivers results that genuinely surprise couples who assumed they needed to go fully custom.
If your wedding has a highly specific aesthetic, an illustration that needs to be commissioned, or design requirements that no existing template can accommodate, then fully custom is the right answer. It takes longer and costs more, but you end up with something completely original.
A Note on Timelines
Custom work takes time. For modified designs, allow 1-2 business days for your initial proof. For fully custom work, allow longer depending on the complexity of the brief. If your wedding is close and you need invitations quickly, ask the team about the 24-hour rush print option, which is available for an additional fee on selected designs.
New customers receive $20.00 off their first order on sign-up. Orders of three or more card types qualify for a 15% discount.
